Hybrid Model

In-person classes are so valuable. They allow you to meet other parents, gain hands-on experience, and interact with teachers in-person. Virtual classes can be valuable in that they don’t require driving and can be taken from anywhere. We’ve combined these into a seamless and easy class that is chock-full of up to date and relevant info to help you prepare for birth and baby.

There is so much to learn when it comes to giving birth and early parenting. Katy and Ariana have been committed to teaching a comprehensive childbirth ed class since 2015. Teaching a class that covers all you need to know takes time, and in this day and age, time is hard to come by – and info, easy. At Ypsi-Arbor Childbirth Ed we have curated the need-to-know information and placed it in a hybrid format to make it easier for busy parents-to-be to learn and retain, allowing you to meet others who are on this same journey, while also including a lot of convenient at-home learning.

The course begins with an exploration of labor and birth, followed by breastfeeding and postpartum preparation.

Weeks 1-4 you will learn the basics of birth physiology; hormones and how they work together to start and continue labor, how to work with the pelvis and uterus as they change and move, and how thoughts and emotions may play a role in how childbirth unfolds; learn what to expect where you have chosen to give birth, understand routine and common procedures,  and discover  how to make the best decisions for you and your baby.

Often so much time is spent preparing for childbirth, that couples feel at a loss for what to do once the baby arrives. Weeks 5 & 6 are designed to help families prepare for a healthy postpartum and adjust to a new normal. We will cover breastfeeding basics, developing secure attachment, postpartum healing, and healthy transitions when adding another little person to your family.
